JEWELRY CARE
Being careful goes a long way. Each piece of jewelry is carefully crafted by hand at our studio. We use high-quality materials for jewelry that will last if handled and maintained with reasonable care.
We recommend putting your jewelry on in the morning after showering and applying any moisturizers or fragrances and removing your jewelry in the evening before going to bed. Avoid exposing your jewelry to wet or moist conditions. We strongly recommend that you remove your jewelry for any activity such as swimming, gardening, home chores, and exercising.
The Silk cord used on most of our pieces is a durable natural fiber though not indestructible. Like any fabric, the silk cord jewelry takes on a new coloration and will wear over time with extended use. Take your jewelry off when you shower, swim and handle chores around your home to help maintain the silk cord's color and the beads' condition. Wearing your jewelry thoughtfully and not just continuously through all moments of your life will allow your piece to last for a long time.
The Gold Filled beads are made by permanently heat-bonding a layer of 14 karat Gold to a metal core. The only thing that comes in contact with your skin is 14 karat Gold. Gold Filled has 100 times the amount of 14 karat Gold as plating. It is strong, durable, and resistant to tarnish. It will not flake off.
Japanese beads are made of glass and are particularly fine. Placing any heavy objects on top of your jewelry may crush these small beads. The colors of these beads are created by various processes- some are dyed, galvanized, or plated. Therefore the colors on the outer layers may come off if rubbed or soaked. Again, we strongly recommend putting the jewelry on in the morning after showering and applying any moisturizers or fragrances and removing your jewelry in the evening before going to bed. Avoid exposing your jewelry to wet or moist conditions.
